Giants Vs Steelers Preview/Prediction Week 13

Preview

Six straight wins have the Giants riding high into a pivotal matchup with the Pittsburg Steelers. The Giants are headed to Pittsburg to face their stiffest test of the season defensively. The likes of Le’veon Bell and Antonio Brown will truly test this defense and see they respond to the top offensive weapons in the NFL. Big Ben is a problem all by himself with his play extending ability. The Giants will need near perfect games from a lot of defensive players. The offense has shown they are not capable of putting games away and it may cost them in a game like this.

The Giants may be 8-3 and have the second best record in the NFC, but all the teams they have beaten but one has a losing record (Ravens). With the lack of the offense and mainly the running game the Giants don’t look like the most convincing 8-3 team. While the Cowboys have played the same teams they have beaten those teams in a convincing fashion. This upcoming game against the Steelers is the game for the Giants to prove they are just as good as the Cowboys and can make some noise in the playoffs. With one loss by the Cowboys and the Giants winning out. The Giants can compete with the Cowboys for the division on Dec 11th.

Matchups To Watch

Spagnuolo Vs Le’veon and Antonio Brown
There is not one defensive player the Giants are going to be able to stick on these two guys. It is going to be a complete team effort to shut these guys down. The defensive backs may be in great position and still get beat. A linebacker may have Le’veon square in the whole only to get made into a highlight. There has to be pursuit to the ball at all times hustle will be huge in this game. The Giants will have to get pressure on Ben Roethlisberger to keep him from making the signature long pass to Antonio Brown after extending the play. Everyone will have to step up and have a good game against some of the best players in the league.

Giants Offensive Efficiency
The Giants have to find a way to run their offense more efficiently. They lack the smoothness that you want to see and they lack the consistency that strikes fear into defenses. They need to be in attack mode for 60 minutes and figure out a way to run the ball. Justin Pugh most likely won’t be back this week nor will Shane Vereen. The good news is that both of them have a good shot to suit up for the game against the Cowboys when we need them the most. For this game though they have to find a way to make it work without them and get this critical win.

Prediction

Giants 28
Another close game in this one that the Giants squeak by in the fashion they have all season.
OBJ has another great game going for 145 yards and 1 touchdown. Along with a good rebound performance from Sterling he will also go over 100 yards.

Steelers 24
The middling defense of the Steelers wont be able to stop Eli OBJ and Sterling Sheppard. Le’veon and AB will get theirs in the passing game, but Le’veon will have trouble running against the 5th ranked run defense.

I seem to recall the Giants beating the Cowboys in Week 1…as well as the Ravens.

They definitely did but the Ravens don’t have the offensive weapons the Steelers do. The Cowboys are just playing better than they did week 1
