Giants Vs Lions Week 15 Review
Giants move to 10-4 under Ben McAdoo. They are in position to get into the playoffs for the first time since 2011. It is an extremely refreshing feeling for the Giants to have double digit wins again. They came into this game hot after the win against the Cowboys and continued to bring the heat against the Lions.
Positives
The Eli’s
Eli Manning and Eli Apple both had strong games this week. Manning was highly efficient starting with 11 straight completed passes. He finished the game 20/28 for 201 and 2 TD. Eli Apple finished with 7 tackles and two pass breakups. Apple has gotten better each week and shows flashes of being great at times. He did get beat deep but the catch by Marvin Jones was excellent. Eli Apple was unable to find the ball in the air.
DRC
DRC once again had a very strong game. Janoris Jenkins went down early and DRC stepped right into his old role. he finished the game off with a leaping interception. While he did get beat badly early he recovered and played a solid game.
Olivier Vernon
He had another great day. OV was in Stafford’s face all night. He only finished with one sack but he had 5 total pressures. He is second in the league in total pressures, so Id say the money has been worth it. His sack came on a huge 3rd down to force the Lions into a field goal. He was a big reason the Lions didn’t score a touchdown.
Run Game
Yeah that’s right the Giants rushed for over 100 yards today for the first time in a long time. Paul Perkins led the way with 11 rushes for 56 yards. The Giants mixed Rashad and Perkins well today and with the return of Justin Pugh the Giants ran the ball.
Ben McAdoo
Ben McAdoo deserves some credit for this win and the season the Giants are having. He has turned the team around and has all but secured a playoff birth in his first year. Yes he has the $200 million defense but how many times have we seen that not work. Spagnuolo gets his due as well as he but McAdoo has done well for his first year.
Negatives
This was probably the Giants cleanest game of the season. At no point did it truly seem the Giants were in danger of losing the game. You can still ask for more out of the offense but they got it done. Outside of the usual Ereck Flowers terrible play the game was smooth.
Up Next
Giants go south on 95 to face the Eagles at Lincoln Financial. This will be a tough game as division games are always tough.
