Giants Vs Lions Preview/Prediction Week 2
Preview
Well we are finally into week 2 of the NFL season. The Giants have an opportunity to get the sour taste out of their mouth from the ugly week 1 loss to the Cowboys. The Lions are coming to Jersey for a Monday night showdown and this is a must win for the Giants. Going 0-2 is just not an option with the talents on both sides of the ball. We all know how abysmal the offense was last week. Hopefully we can turn it around and McAdoo makes some changes. The Giants need to get some of those “Gimmie” plays going early just for confidence reasons. This offense needs to see something positive and sustain it for an entire drive. The Lions defense isn’t particularly strong. Their best players are Ziggy Ansah, Haloti Ngata, and Darius Slay. While all good players the Giants should be able to best them. The Giants had their first 100 yard rusher (Paul Perkins) against the Lions last year. With some better blocking than last week their may be similar results.
Matchups To Watch
O-Line Vs D-Line
We have seen this same song and dance before. If the Giants can control the line of scrimmage (Huge If) they will win this game.
Golden Tate & Marvin Jones Vs Secondary
With Janoris Jenkins status up in the air. The Giants will need Eli Apple to have a better game, and for the rest of the secondary to step up.
Theo Riddick & Eric Ebron Vs LB’s & Safeties
Theo Riddick is one of the better pass catching backs in the NFL the Giants will need to contain him. They will also need to do a better job on Eric Ebron than they did against Jason Witten. Jonathan Casillas, BJ Goodson and Keenan Robinson (appeared on the injury report) need to hold the check downs to minimal RAC.
Extra Notes
Eli has had to get rid of the ball far too early and the offense is ineffective as a result. If it is not due to blocking it is Eli hearing footsteps. Eli has to play a little better and the O-line well see above.
Prediction
Giants 35
Giants come storming back in this one. Making everyone forget about week one. They begin to tap into the potential of this offense and score more than 20 points.
Lions 24
The Giants have more talent than the Lions on both sides of the ball. They won last year but this will be a statement game from the G-men.
