Giants vs Cowboys Week 1 Preview/Prediction.
The $200 million defense
The NY Giants spent $200 million on defense this offseason. The defense will get its first test this sunday against a potent Dallas Cowboys Offense. Although the Cowboys will be without quarterback Tony Romo. His replacement Dak Prescott had a phenomenal preseason, and Dez Bryant is a perennial pro bowler when healthy. Olivier Vernon has shown he will be a solid contributor, and I am very high on Eli Apple. I truly think he will be the next great shutdown corner in the league. The combo of Snacks Harrison and Big Johnathan Hankins has proved to be impenetrable. Jpp seems like he may be back to himself or at as least as much as we can expect from a guy with less than ten fingers. Overall I think this game will be a good outing for the Giants defense so much so I even started them in my fantasy league.
Giants Offensive Line
With Justin Pugh back in the lineup the Giants offensive line shouldn’t face too much of a test this week. The cowboys pass rush is depleted due to the suspensions of Randy Gregory and Demarcus Lawrence. The real question will be is can they get the running game cranking? I believe they will NOT. Nothing this preseason has led me to believe the Giants offensive line will be able to block anyone. This is part of the reason I have my reservtions about this Giants team. If the blocking can be cleaned up The New York Football Giants can compete with anyone. Offensive Line Woes
Victor Cruz #The Return
As a life long Giants fan few players have a spot in my football heart like Victor Cruz. We all know his terrific story of being an undrafted free agent and how far he has come. The question is will we ever see that same player that we all have come to love? Will the salsa once again become a regular routine? We will no doubt hear the echoes of CRUUUUUZZZZ!!! throughout MetLife, but for how long? We all know it is a what have you done for me lately league. I have held out hope all these months that #80 will once again light up the field. I’m not about to stop hoping 3 days before The #Return
Orlando Scandrick
Regarded as the Cowboys best DB outside of maybe rising star Byron Jones. He is coming off a major injury (ACL Tear). Will he be able to get back to his former self? The Cowboys sure do need help in the back end with Odell Beckham Jr and Eli coming to town.
Prediction
Giants:28
The new look Giants Defense will be too much for the Cowboys and rookie QB Dak Prescott to handle. Giants set the ship right and finally get back to winning in Dallas.
Cowboys:10
With no pass rush even against a porous Giants offensive line there wont be enough defensive firepower to contain Eli and Co.
