Giants Outlast The Texans 27-22
The Giants and Pat Shurmur got their first victory of the season today. The benching of Ereck Flowers proved to be a pivotal move for this offensive line. They seemed rejuvenated and it showed in Eli’s play. He went 25/29 297 yards and 2 TDs. He had an amazing game. He was on target sharp and got the ball out quick. Chad Wheeler was matched up with JJ Watt most of the 1st half and he held his own. Although Watt ended up with 3 sacks Chad Wheeler was a major upgrade over Ereck Flowers.
Kerry Wynn was the defensive MVP of this game. He finished with 5 tackles a forced fumble and a pass deflection. He was always around the ball today and making plays. Dalvin Tomlinson also showed out and put his strength on display multiple times. The defensive backs had a good game overall. James Bettcher set the defense up for success.
Rookie Spotlight
This draft class is shaping up to be great. Saquon capped off a 75-yard drive with a 15 yard TD run. He looked electric like has a season. The rookies that really stepped up were BJ Hill and Lorenzo Carter. Both sacked Deshaun Watson. Lorenzo Carter is playing in place of Olivier Vernon and he is making splash plays. His speed flashes and he is always around the ball. BJ Hill is one of most NFL ready players of the 2018 draft. They said the same of Dalvin Tomlinson last year. They are both good players and have shown tremendous strength. The showed the ability to get a push and get off blocks and make plays.
