Victor Cruz Retires From NFL

Victor Cruz will go down as one of the most exciting inspiring players in Giants history. From his 99 yard catch against the Jets to his timeless salsa dance Victor Cruz is a beloved player. He never seemed to disappoint throughout that magical run in 2011. He and Hakeem Nicks combined to be one the most deadly duos in the NFL. He quickly made everyone forget about Steve Smith who set the reception record for the Giants with 107 only 2 years prior.

The Giants knew they had something special in Victor Cruz after the 2010 preseason when he had 145 yards and 3 TDs vs the Jets. Unfortunately, Victor got injured and sat out the 2010 season. The Giants didn’t let Cruz go and the result was amazing he set the Giants receiving yards record with 1,536 yards and helped The Giants and Eli win a 2nd super bowl in 5 years. It is without question the Giants would not have that 4th ring without Victor Cruz. He was an integral piece to that championship run and the only WR to score a TD in the SuperBowl.

Victor Cruz not only provided Giants fans with a Superbowl he is one of the best underdog stories in the NFL. Going undrafted out of Umass in 2010 he had to make his way onto an NFL roster the hard way. He did just that and the rest was history. The kid from Patterson NJ was a superstar and Superbowl winning WR for the New York Giants. Victor Cruz’s story is inspiring and heartwarming and a lesson for all that hard work and dedication pays off.

Victor Cruz will be joining ESPN as an analyst.
